Frequently Asked Questions
What is an emotional problem?
Emotional problems are complex and devastating predicaments where the more you try to feel better, the worse you feel. Often, people with emotional problems swing back and forth between doing too much and doing too little, in a vicious cycle where perfectionism and burnout feed back into each other.
What kinds of clients do you work with?
I work with people who are feeling overwhelmed by unwanted feelings such as anxiety, depression, resentment, existential fear, and excessive shame. My coaching might be a good fit for you if you want to get over your problems without being boxed into the labels used in traditional psychology. My clients enjoy being coached by someone who has been through emotional problems himself and come out the other side. I'm a good fit for those looking for down-to-earth, effective advice for making sense of their emotional problems so they can get back into their lives.
What does coaching involve?
You and I talk for 50 minutes once a week. During our sessions we talk about the things that are important to you in your life, which often include areas where you are feeling trapped and pulled in opposite directions. Gradually, you learn how to find balance and effectively tend to what matters to you without experiencing debilitating pressure.
Do you offer remote coaching?
Yep. I coach people nationally and internationally via Zoom or whatever is your favorite teleconferencing app.
How much does coaching cost?
I work with you to figure out what's in your budget. I've been in the position of needing help but not being able to afford it, and I don't want you to be in that position.
